Due to demand from our students, we will now be running more online sessions to help pre-registration students prepare for their Stage 1, Stage 2 assessments as well as OSCEs

These are ideal for all stages throughout your pre-reg year and even for final year optometry students

Handouts and NEW crib sheets will be provided after each tutorial

This tutorial consists of an introduction to the pre-reg year along with an interactive journey through the first 10 competencies, including the Opticians act, tear assessment, pupil assessment and risk factors for common ocular diseases

We will be covering managment of patients using real life case scenarios of patients that attended practice, including flashes and floaters, papilitis and age related macula degeneration

Practical demonstrations on how to conduct a sight test for your Stage 2 assessment along with tips and suggestions on how to tailor your routine.

Real life pathology case studies part 2: Wednesday 24th June 7pm-8.30pm SOLD OUT

Our final tutorial will cover many other ocular conditions including HSK, HZK, anterior uveitis, angle closure glaucoma, hypertensive retinopathy and vascular occlusions.

This will cover CLs fit, CLs aftercare and discuss CLs complications and their management

RGP contact lenses: Tuesday 4th August 2020 7pm-830pm SOLD OUT

Visual Fields: Thursday 27th August 2020 7pm-815pm (repeat of 9th June) SOLD OUT

An interactive journey through the visual pathway as well as a detailed discussion on how to interpret visual field plots, with specific attention to Humphrey plots. To test your learning, there will be a field defect quiz at the end

RGP contact lenses: Tuesday 1st September 2020 7pm-830pm (repeat of 4th August) SOLD OUT

This will cover the features and benefits of RGP lenses and materials, RGP selection, lens assessment (in detail, with pictures) and final lens modification 

Dispensing: Thursday 3rd September 2020 7pm-815pm (repeat of 17th June) SOLD OUT

This will cover common topics such as calculations on BVD, MSU and differential prismatic effect as well paediatric and high prescription dispensing

Binocular Vision: Saturday 6th September 2020 7pm-815pm (repeat of 15th June) SOLD OUT

This will be a discussion on extraocular muscles, cranial nerves along with a practical demonstration of some core BV tests

As you may have heard on 29th April from the College of Optometrists, the OSCEs in July have been cancelled and it looks like the next exams will be in September.
We are now taking bookings for those sitting the September exams. We will have College examiners/assessors ophthalmologists and actors, one to one with many practical stations!

To coincide with most of your Visit 3 assessments, we have just booked our next tutorial on Thursday 16th January 2020 at SpaMedica, Birmingham.

This includes tutorials on:

1) Binocular Vision – looking at the work of extraocular muscles, BV conditons and comparing neurogenic paresis and vs mechanic restrictions along with case studies.

2) Dispensing – discussing common issues with dispensing competencies along with case scenarios

Time: 630pm-9pm

Refraction Certificate training- Ophthalmologists
